Shanon H. Post

SIDNEY — Shanon H. Post, 34, of Sidney died Monday, July 5, 2010, as a result of a dirt bike accident.

He was born Feb. 22, 1976, in Skowhegan, the son of Harland and Lorraine Post. Shanon was educated at Athens Elementary School and Madison High School. In 1997, he joined Kappa Delta Phi fraternity at Thomas College, and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1998.

After graduating from Thomas, he started a property management company, Mid Maine Maintenance, supervising up to 150 units. After a rigorous interviewing process, he hired his wife to help him manage the business.

On Sept. 21, 2004, he married the love of his life, Kristin, in a beautiful seaside ceremony in Belfast. Cecil Jones, Shanon’s great-uncle, who married his parents almost 30 years prior, presided over the ceremony. The happy couple built their home and settled in Sidney. They became the proud parents of their first son, Ethan, in October 2008; and welcomed their second son, Ashton, into the world in May 2010.

Shanon was passionate about his family and friends and, in addition to being an avid golfer, loved motor sports. At an early age, he spent precious time with his Auntie Lorrie, who devoted her time and love to help support him. He also spent a great deal of his childhood with his paternal grandparents, Robert and Gloria Post, who helped develop his love for anything with an engine that went fast. This love later expanded to include whitewater rafting. As a true sportsman, he enjoyed bragging about taking his test in March, when ice still covered the river. He passed with flying colors, and rafting was added to the list of adventure sports that Shanon had mastered. It was through this outlet that he met Scott Hunt, one of his closest friends, who would later stand beside him as his best man at Shanon and Kristin’s wedding. His pastimes also allowed him to spend quality man-time with his “other spouses,” Ray Dobbins and Jason Quick. Chris Ireland, longtime devoted friend, also shared his love of dirt bikes and motorcycles, and was counted among his closest friends. Shanon truly cherished all of his friendships, and was always the first to offer the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His compassion and generosity were marks of his true character.

His lovely sister, Tonia, and grandmother, Gloria, predeceased Shanon.

He is survived by his loving parents, beautiful wife and children; his maternal grandmother, Sylvia Curtis, of Harmony; his maternal grandfather, Robert Fish, of New York; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Public visiting services will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 9, at Knowlton Hewins Roberts Funeral Homes, 1 Church St. in Augusta. The service will also be held at Knowlton Hewins Roberts Funeral Home, at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The committal will take place at 1 p.m. at Mount Rest Cemetery in Athens.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the attention of Kristin, Ethan or Ashton Post at Cport, 22 Western Ave., Augusta, ME 04330.

Condolences to the family may be sent to www.khrfuneralhomes.com .

Kappa Delta Phi not long for this world

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

It started out as rumors, it’s official with eye witnesses confirming it.

The National Board disaffiliated from the sisterhood today at P/T.  No vote was taken from the representative body (actives), it was all done behind closed doors. The actives were informed of the board decision and told no vote was needed.

Other news in the forums and more info:

As of today the brotherhood has no sisters according to the Board.
